Tequila’s global growth has brought renewed attention to long-established producers, including Sauza, which traces its origins to 1873 in Jalisco, Mexico. Today the brand is distributed in more than 75 countries as part of the Suntory Global Spirits portfolio, making it one of the more widely recognised names in the category.

Sauza’s profile in international markets often comes from its straightforward, consistent character, especially in cocktails. Both Sauza Silver and Sauza Gold follow familiar tequila styles and are commonly used in mixed drinks such as margaritas.

Sauza Silver typically presents clean, light aromas with notes of citrus, soft agave, and a faint herbal edge. On the palate, it tends to show mild sweetness, gentle pepper, and a short, crisp finish, features that make it adaptable for shaking into cocktails. Sauza Gold, with its golden hue, offers slightly warmer aromas, often leaning toward vanilla, cooked agave, and light spice, with a rounder mouthfeel than the Silver.

In India, tequila is still a developing category, but interest is growing as cocktail culture expands in major cities. Sauza’s variants are increasingly visible on retail shelves and bar menus, often becoming part of early introductions to tequila for consumers exploring agave spirits.

As the category broadens, Sauza remains one of several internationally distributed tequilas available in the market, providing a reference point for drinkers looking to understand different styles and flavour expressions within the spirit.
